Trustees Announce New Campaign Total;
Regional Events in the Planning
At the January meeting of Trinity’s Board of Trustees, the capital campaign steering committee announced that the University is more than halfway toward the campaign’s $200 million goal with $101.2 million in gifts and pledges raised so far. Dream. Inspire. Achieve. -- The Campaign for Trinity University, publicly launched Sept. 22, 2005, is the most important and challenging advancement initiative in Trinity’s 136 year history. “The campaign builds on our position of strength, invests more in our students, faculty, and curriculum, and will make Trinity's impact on personal lives, higher education, and the world greater than ever before,” said Jim Dicke III ’68, Trinity Trustee and member of the steering committee.
To share in the remarkable success and enthusiasm the Trinity campaign is generating, plans are underway to launch a series of events over the next two years that will take the campaign to various regions around the country. The regional campaign events will provide visibility for the University and raise awareness of the campaign in cities where the larger numbers of Trinity alumni and parents reside. “We want to share this sense of enthusiasm for Trinity’s future with as many alumni, parents, and friends as possible,” said Bonnie Flake, director of alumni relations and regional events coordinator.
Campaign events are scheduled March 14 in Tulsa, Okla. and March 27 in Oklahoma City. Events are also planned for Kansas City, St. Louis, Atlanta, Denver, Houston, and Phoenix later this year. In 2007, events will be held in Washington D.C., San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Austin, Nashville, and Boston.
A major focus of The Campaign for Trinity is building endowment for scholarships and financial aid, so Trinity can continue to recruit the best and brightest students, regardless of their financial circumstances. In addition, the campaign will support innovative new academic programs, create additional faculty positions, and provide current faculty with opportunities for research and scholarship. Campaign gifts will also finance enhancements to Trinity’s technology infrastructure, laboratories, athletic and recreation programs and facilities, and residence halls.
