Dr. Paul Kelleher, Chair of the Education Department
 Our mission is not only to prepare professionals in our three professional programs --Teacher Education, School Psychology, and School Leadership -- but also to develop principled leaders in each of these fields. We believe that knowledge – of self, of professional content, of people and communities -- is at the heart and soul of educational practice. Our students need knowledge before learning how to apply it.
In each of our programs, learning how involves apprenticeship. Employing problems-based approaches that are anchored in inquiry, reflection, and ongoing assessment, we enable students to create knowledge in-use as they practice. Our small size --eight full-time faculty members, 30 part-time clinical faculty members and only 250 students -- enables us to achieve this aim through intense individual and small group teaching relationships.

Current Events and News
Trinity Receives Over $2 million to Train Math, Science, and Technology Teachers - Two grants to Trinity University’s education department will help train the next generation of K-12 math and science public school teachers. Totaling more than $2 million, the National Science Foundation (NSF) grants will provide continued scholarship and support for Trinity’s Master of Arts in Teaching program.

TEaCH Lab for Educational Technology Dedicated -- On November 11, 2009, Congressman Lamar Smith, visited the Trinity campus to celebrate the opening of a state of the art teaching laboratory in the Storch Memorial Building. “ Funding is provided by an appropriations bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-San Antonio.
