LOAN COUNSELING

Welcome to the Loan Counseling page!

Recipients of federal loan programs are required by federal regulations to complete loan counseling requirements. Loan counseling must be completed before funds can be credited to your student account at Trinity University.

You have the responsibility to know and comply with the terms and conditions of any student loan that you are awarded. Your student loan is a serious financial obligation that you are legally bound to repay after leaving school. It is important that you know and understand your rights and responsibilities when you accept a student loan.

Walton Family and Perkins Loans
For information on your Walton or Perkins student loan, please visit www.ecsi.net and use school code D2. For most loans, there is a mandatory exit interview process that must be completed prior to graduation. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid or the Business Office at 210-999-8002 for more information on your Walton or Perkins loan.

Perkins and Walton Exit Counseling
All Perkins and Walton loan recipients/students who are graduating from Trinity or who cease being a student at Trinity will be notified of their pertinent Perkins EXIT and/or Walton EXIT Counseling requirements.

The Process: The Business Office forwards a listing of scheduled graduates to ECSI, Trinity University's loan servicer for the Perkins and Walton loans. ECSI then provides the Business Office with a list of these students who have Perkins and/or Walton loans. Once the Business Office reviews the names and provides their approval to ECSI, ECSI will, in turn, contact theses students by e-mail, regular mail, or both, alerting these students to complete their EXIT Counseling for their Perkins and/or Walton loans @ www.ecsi.net. A "diploma hold," by the Business Office, is placed on the student's account until EXIT Counseling is complete. Follow up is done by the Business Office via telephone calls, e-mail, and/or regular mail.

Stafford and Perkins Entrance Counseling
All first-time recipients of the Federal Stafford or Perkins student loans are required to complete ENTRANCE Counseling. For your convenience, loan counseling is provided online. Please click on your pertinent web link at the top of this page to begin your electronic loan counseling session.

Loan funds will not be credited to your account until the ENTRANCE Counseling process, per loan, is complete.

Stafford Exit Counseling
All federal loan recipients/students who are graduating from Trinity or who cease being a student at Trinity must complete EXIT Counseling before leaving the University. EXIT Counseling is a federal requirement and can be completed electronically by clicking on the EXIT Counseling web link above.

If you have questions about the loan counseling sessions, your student loans, or you are unable to participate online, please contact the Office of Financial Aid at 210-999-8315 or financialaid@trinity.edu for further instructions.
