GRANTS

Trinity Academic Grant: The Academic Grant is awarded to students who have demonstrated impressive academic talent. Renewal Information: The Trinity Academic Grant is renewable with an overall Trinity GPA of 2.0 and satisfactory academic progress.

Trinity General Grant: The General Grant is awarded to students who have demonstrated financial need.

The Academic and General Grants are underwritten by gifts from alumni, businesses, and friends who all share in Trinity's commitment to providing assistance to deserving and talented students.

Federal Pell Grant:This Federal grant is awarded to students who have demonstrated significant financial need. PELL awards are based on a family contribution scale and payment schedule published annually by the U.S. Department of Education. For the 2005-2006 academic year, the Pell grant range is from $400 to $4050 for a full-time student.

Federal SEOG: The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is awarded to students who demonstrate significant financial need. Following federal guidelines, it is awarded only to Pell recipients.

Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG), Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant (LEAP), and Special Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant (SLEAP). These need-based grants are awarded to Texas residents to help them meet the cost of attending a private university in Texas. Trinity offers a companion program to TEG of the same amount to qualified out-of-state students, called Institutional Tuition Equalization Grant (ISTEG). LEAP/SLEAP are matching federal funds that must be matched with TEG. Since funds are limited, priority in awarding will be given to students who demonstrate significant financial need. Institutional, State and some Federal funds are limited each year based on funding notices and allocations received from the University Board of Trustees, State Agencies and the Federal Department of Education.

TEXAS Grant: The TEXAS Grant program is funded by the state of Texas. To qualify for a TEXAS grant, a student must:

  • be a Texas resident
  • be a graduate of a public or accredited private high school in Texas no earlier than fall 1998
  • have completed the recommended or advanced high school curriculum
  • be enrolled at least 3/4 time in an undergraduate degree program
  • show high financial need
  • show no convictions of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance

Since funds are limited, priority in awarding will be given to students who demonstrate significant financial need.

Renewal Information: To renew TEXAS grant funds, returning students must continue to demonstrate financial need, earn a 2.5 cumulative Trinity GPA, and pass 75% of the classes attempted at Trinity.
