FEDERAL WORK STUDY
Federal Work Study (FWS)
The Federal Work Study employment program allows students the opportunity to earn money by working part-time on campus or for certain off-campus non-profit organizations. A student must demonstrate financial need to be eligible for FWS.
Unlike other financial aid awards, FWS earnings are not credited to a student's account in the Business Office. Instead, it is a recommended amount of money that the student is eligible to earn during the academic year. Generally, the FWS award is for $1,650 for the year, which will allow the student to work 8-10 hours per week over two semesters, Fall and Spring, at minimum wage. Students are paid directly every two weeks.
Prior to the start of employment, eligible FWS students must complete and return their FWS Employment Agreement (signed by both the student and Supervisor) to the Office of Financial Aid.
Students who will be working on-campus for the first time, must report to the Office of Human Resources for job placement and for completion of a W-4 and I-9 form.
Federal SEOG: The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is awarded to students who demonstrate significant financial need. Following federal guidelines, it is awarded only to Pell recipients.
