FACILITIES MAINTENANCE
Physical
Plant and
Housekeeping Charges
The Physical Plant Office is a
University service department and will not normally charge for its services.
However, it will be reimbursed for:
- Labor and materials for any non-University sponsored
event for which admission is charged, regardless of when the event is held.
- Labor and materials for all other events, regardless
of when they are held, for which there is a contractual agreement for use of
University facilities by an outside organization, even if admission is not
to be charged. Normally this would include all events for which Physical
Plant services are requested by the Office of Public Relations.
- Materials for any in-house work performed by the
Physical Plant Office for departments which is not routine or preventive
maintenance or funded by capital projects. Examples of this type of
reimbursable service are the construction of book shelves and the
installation of additional electrical or telephone receptacles.
- Total contract cost for work performed for a
department which is not routine or preventive maintenance or funded by a
capital project, when the work is beyond the in-house capability of the
Physical Plant Office. An example is the installation of carpet in a
previously un-carpeted area (Repair of carpet is routine maintenance and
will be paid for by the Physical Plant Office).
- Labor and materials for damages within residence
halls, such as vandalism of elevators, recharging of fire extinguishers,
abuse of fire alarm or smoke detection systems, replacement of damaged or
missing signs and replacement of keys, etc.
Trinity University’s custodial
contractor is required by contract to provide specific housekeeping services for
designated areas at a fixed price per month. The company is authorized
additional compensation for:
- Cleaning areas not specified in the contract, or
cleaning specified areas at a greater frequency than called for in the
contract.
- Extra cleaning services for special events for which
there is less than seven (7) days prior notification.
- Required work on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor
Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.
- Cleaning services for events held in food service
areas, (i.e., Mabee Dining Hall, Coates University Center Commons,
and the Faculty Club,) since these areas are not covered by the custodial
contract. Arrangements for cleaning services for events held in these areas
should be made through the Physical Plant Office.
- Cleaning services for Laurie Auditorium after events
for which admission is charged.
