1. General Liability Insurance
Trinity University maintains general liability coverage that includes personal and advertising injuries, product liability, operations, bodily injury liability including athletic coverage, property damage liability, contractual liability (for oral or written contracts), host liquor law liability, corporal punishment liability, fire legal liability, employee benefit liability, excess coverage for professional health care liability, and watercraft liability.
2. Excess Liability Insurance
Trinity University maintains excess liability coverage over the general liability, commercial automobile liability, employer’s liability, employee benefits and sport activities.

Intercollegiate Athletic Sports Injury InsuranceTrinity University maintains wrongful act coverage for the institution, trustees, directors, officers, administrators, faculty, student teachers, professional staff and volunteer workers or members of committees formed by the institution, all while acting within the scope of their duties on behalf of the institution. The University self-insures for the first $50,000.
Trinity University maintains "excess" medical coverage for all intercollegiate sport-related injuries. Coverage extends only to injuries that occur at a University-supervised, scheduled event or practice. Catastrophic coverage is provided through NCAA. This coverage extends only to intercollegiate athletes and has a two (2) year coverage limit. Students must be full-time.

1. Contracting Authority
Contracting authority for Trinity University is limited to the Board of Trustees, the President, and specified individuals or offices (Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, Director of Purchasing). The majority of departments or University offices do not have contracting authority.
2. Contract Review: Insurance Requirements, "Hold Harmless" and Indemnification Language
Any contract that requires the
University to agree to an indemnification or "hold harmless" clause
must be reviewed by the Office of Fiscal
Affairs prior
to executing the contract.
The Associate Vice President for Fiscal Affairs reviews all contracts submitted for the signature of the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs, for the purpose of identifying risks and administering insurance requirements.
Contracts commonly include insurance requirements to cover liability and property loss exposures of the parties. A Certificate of Insurance can be provided by the Office of Fiscal Affairs.

Use of Campus Facilities for Off-Campus Events
Off-campus users of campus facilities must provide insurance covering Trinity University by naming Trinity University as an additional insured on their policy. This policy must provide general liability insurance (including coverage for personal injury and property damage) with a limit of liability not less than $1,000,000 for each occurrence.
Off-campus users who are unable to provide the above insurance are obliged to purchase a short-term policy through the Office of Fiscal Affairs.
This insurance covers Trinity
University, and the off-campus user of Trinity University facilities.
