How can I get my Medications refilled?
If you currently have a prescription and would like
to have it transferred to a local pharmacy, contact the pharmacy with
specific information about your medication and ask to have the prescription
transferred. You will need your prescription bottle or package for
all the details. You may call Health Services at 999-8111 to find the
location and phone number for a pharmacy near campus.
Students, who require delivery of their
prescription medication, may contact the Laurel Heights Pharmacy at 2602 N. Main; phone 210-736-3161. This pharmacy can deliver medication to
the Health Services location after you make payment arrangements with them.
Some medications and controlled substances cannot
be transferred from one state to another. In this case you may ask
your family to send refills to you by mail or you may need to find a local
physician to authorize prescriptions for you. The university physician may
be able to assist you with refills of allergy or asthma medications.

|
How much will my prescription cost?
Many students have insurance that allows them to
pay a reduced amount, called a co pay, for prescriptions. Check with
your insurance company or the pharmacy for specific details.
If you do not have insurance that covers
prescriptions and you will be paying for the prescriptions you may want to
shop around for the lowest price. Prices will vary between pharmacies.
You can get a list of pharmacies close to campus from Health
Services. You may also ask your health care provider if a generic
equivalent is available for the medication being prescribed which will also
help to keep prescription costs down.
