back to questions

What does it cost to receive treatment in Health Services?

Most students can be examined by a nurse in Health Services and receive samples of over the counter medications at no cost.

There is a $15 charge for an appointment with the physician and charges range from $5 to $24 for laboratory testing or STD tests.  Fees for vaccinations and other injections administered in Health Services will be at or near cost.

If the Health Services staff draws blood and it is sent to the laboratory away from campus, the laboratory can bill the student, parent, or in some cases, the insurance company directly.

back to questions

How can I see a Doctor on campus?

The Health Services physician is available three days per week by appointment only. If you come to Health Services and see a nurse she can assist you in making an appointment or you may phone for an appointment, 999-8111.  Appointments are not made by email.

back to questions

What does it cost to see the physician on campus?

The fee to see the university physician is $15.00.  If a student makes an appointment and fails to keep that appointment without notifying Health Services at least 2 hours ahead of time the student’s account will be billed $15.00.

back to questions

How can I get my Medications refilled?

If you currently have a prescription and would like to have it transferred to a local pharmacy, contact the pharmacy with specific information about your medication and ask to have the prescription transferred.  You will need your prescription bottle or package for all the details.  You may call Health Services at 999-8111 to find the location and phone number for a pharmacy near campus.

Students, who require delivery of their prescription medication, may contact the Laurel Heights Pharmacy at 2602 N. Main; phone 210-736-3161.  This pharmacy can deliver medication to the Health Services location after you make payment arrangements with them.

Some medications and controlled substances cannot be transferred from one state to another.  In this case you may ask your family to send refills to you by mail or you may need to find a local physician to authorize prescriptions for you. The university physician may be able to assist you with refills of allergy or asthma medications.  Call (210) 999-8111 for information or an appointment.

back to questions

How much will my prescription cost?

Many students have insurance that allows them to pay a reduced amount, called a co pay, for prescriptions.  Check with your insurance company or the pharmacy for specific details.

If you do not have insurance that covers prescriptions and you will be paying for the prescriptions you may want to shop around for the lowest price.  Prices will vary between pharmacies.  You can get a list of pharmacies close to campus from Health Services.  You may also ask your health care provider if a generic equivalent is available for the medication being prescribed which will also help to keep prescription costs down.

All students enrolled in 9 hrs. , or more, are required to maintain health insurance throughout the academic year.  If your insurance changes bring a copy of your new insurance card to Health Services and we will update your records.  If you become uninsured during the academic year you may enroll in the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan by contacting Health Services.  Before September 15 each academic year you can enroll through Health Services and the premium will be billed through your student account.  If you need to enroll after September 15, contact Health Services for an enrollment form or directions for on-line enrollment.

back to questions

How can I file an insurance claim?

If you are enrolled in the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan offered through the university you can obtain a claim form from Health Services or on-line at www.academichealthplans.com/trinity.  Follow the directions on the form.  Fill in all the blanks even if some of your responses are “not applicable”.  Attach bills and statements related to the illness or injury.  Copy all the forms that you send to the insurance company.  You may need to refer to them later.  Mail the complete claim form and the bills to the address on the form.

Only one claim form is necessary for an illness or injury even if you have many bills related to this event.

back to questions

Will Health Services file an insurance claim for me?
