The Via Christi Health System (VCHS), www.via-christi.org, is seeking a new President/CEO, Via Christi Wichita Health Network (VCWHN) & Senior Vice President, Via Christi Health System. Headquartered in Wichita, Kansas, VCHS is a Catholic, not-for-profit health system with four divisions – acute care, senior care, retail and outpatient, and insurance – providing care throughout Kansas and the surrounding region. As Kansas’ largest provider of health services, VCHS employs more than 9,000 associates and, in FY07, generated operating revenues of $1.3 billion. The Via Christi Wichita Health Network includes Via Christi Regional Medical Center (St. Francis and St. Joseph campuses total 900 staffed beds); Good Shepherd Behavioral Health Campus; Via Christi Rehabilitation Center; Via Christi Research; Via Christi Home Health; The Via Christi Foundation; and Preferred Medical Associates Family Medicine Clinics. For FY07, VCWHN reported the following statistics: 40,748 acute care admissions; 246,743 outpatient visits; 106,751 ED visits; 326,865 physician clinic visits; 2,942 deliveries; 422 open heart surgeries; and net operating revenues of $670 million.

Reporting to the President/CEO-Via Christi Health System and to The Board, Wichita Health Network, the President/CEO of VCWHN is accountable for aligning, enhancing, managing, and delivering the resources of the Via Christi Health Network to most effectively meet the health needs of the Wichita community. This market leader will play a pivotal role in implementing a care delivery model that extends the clinical strength and resources of the Network into the region while maintaining a highly visible presence in the community and empowering VCHS’ healing ministry in all aspects of Network operations. Key to the success will be full participation in a system-wide culture characterized by mutual trust, open and direct communication, collaboration, decisiveness, and accountability for measurable results.

Candidates for the President/CEO position of VCWHN should present with experience as a President/CEO or COO in a complex, tertiary health care organization located in a competitive market; experience in a senior leadership role within a multi-site health system associated with effective operational integration; a commitment to improved safety and clinical excellence; and a demonstrated track record with physician partnerships and joint ventures. A proven and results-oriented leader with an entrepreneurial orientation; financial, operational and political acumen; and a track record in developing programs and services that improve employee engagement and patient

satisfaction will be essential. A highly relational and collaborative leadership style combined with strong mentoring skills as well as a comfort level and commitment to the mission of Catholic health care is also essential.
