  • Successful completion of a journalism editing course OR English or journalism major (completed or in progress) or work experience with a newspaper, magazine, or scholarly publication

Job description:
  • Write press releases and manage inquiries from media representatives

LBJ National Historic Park Internship
Interested in working at the fabled LBJ National Historic Park in Johnson City? This new program will allow Trinity students to work closely with staff of the National Park Service in areas such as Cultural Resource Preservation and Museum Operations, Historical Interpretation, Natural Resources Management, and Visitor Center Operations.

The Witte Museum History Curator Internship
Interns will be asked to perform a wide variety of duties, from researching an object to helping install exhibits. The history collection at the Witte includes furniture, decorative arts, Texas paintings, and a large collection of costumes and textiles.

An intern may have the opportunity to work with anything from a Texas history artifact to an unrecognizable object that has been in storage for years! Insight into the daily life of a museum curator and the workings of modern museums is another result of the History Curator internship.

Requirements:
  • Junior or Senior status
  • willingness to work six hours per week
  • be dependable, prompt, and a self-starter
  • have some computer and research skills.

San Antonio Historic Preservation Internship
The Division of Historic Preservation and Urban Design is seeking interns interested in learning about its many-faceted responsibilities to the city's development, from housing and neighborhood issues, the establishment of historic districts, to questions of urban design.

The Holocaust Memorial Museum
The Holocaust Education Center and Memorial Museum
of the San Antonio Jewish Federation is seeking interns
(non-paying) to staff the museum on afternoons,
beginning in September 2001.

The work will entail:
  • Answering the phones and greet guests during afternoon hours
  • Acting as docent for groups and individuals visiting memorial. Training will be provided
  • Using the computer to access information. Extensive computer skills are not required.
  • Optional - Be trained as a discussion facilitator for classes.

San Antonio Current Internship
The San Antonio Current, the city's alternative weekly newspaper, is looking for a number of dedicated students who are eager to hone their skills as writers and editors.

Requirements:
  • You must be 18 years old, and be able to
    commit to 10-20 hours a week
  • Although there is no monetary compensation, the experience will be priceless! Earning TU credit is a possibility.
