Symphonic Wind Ensemble

The Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs a variety of works for winds and percussion, including traditional marches, representative works from the standard wind band repertoire, and significant contemporary works. This 65-piece group rehearses four hours per week and is open to all students by audition. In addition to campus performances, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble undertakes an annual tour.

With singers from many areas of study, the TRINITY CHOIR reflects the diversity of Trinity University's student population and its commitment to a liberal arts curriculum. The 65-voice ensemble rehearses twice weekly, preparing sacred and secular choral literature spanning five centuries. Having toured Germany, the Czech Republic, Mexico, Rumania, Yugoslavia, Israel, and throughout the United States, the Trinity Choir enjoys a national as well as international reputation of musical excellence. The Trinity Choir also combines with the University Chorus and faculty, staff, and alumni singers (Choral Union) each spring semester to perform masterworks of the choral/orchestral repertoire in collaboration with the Trinity Symphony Orchestra. The Choir is open to all students by audition.


Chamber Singers

Performance Repertoire

The CHAMBER SINGERS is a select vocal ensemble comprised of members of the Trinity Choir. The 20-voice group meets twice weekly and specializes in 15th- through 20th-century music written for smaller vocal ensembles including madrigals, part songs, and vocal jazz arrangements. In addition to concert performances on campus and appearances throughout the San Antonio community, the group tours with the Trinity Choir each Spring semester. Chamber Singers is open to all students by audition.


 
UNIVERSITY CHORUS

The UNIVERSITY CHORUS is a mixed choir of 50+ voices comprised of students from many disciplines across the campus. The Chorus rehearses twice weekly to prepare a broad range of repertoire dating from the 15th century to the present. In addition to performing in the Fall and Spring Choral Concerts, the Christmas Concert and the Choral Union Concert, the University Chorus combines with the Trinity Choir to host the popular Christmas Vespers candlelight service in December each year; the longest standing musical tradition at Trinity. The University Chorus is open to all students by audition.

 

Symphony Orchestra

The Symphony Orchestra is a student ensemble comprised of string, wind, and percussion players from the entire student body. The orchestra presents at least two annual concerts featuring string and full orchestra music from the classics to works created in the 20th century. The ensemble frequently hosts guest artists and collaborates with the Trinity Choral Union to present excellent performances of world class music. In the past, the orchestra has also performed with faculty members Carolyn True and Linda McNeil.


Jazz Ensemble

Performance Repertoire

 

The Jazz Ensemble is a traditional big band consisting of saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and rhythm section (piano, bass, drums, and guitar). Traditional and contemporary styles are represented in their performances, including swing, bossa, ballad, samba, and rock. This 18-piece group rehearses four hours per week and is open to all students by audition. In addition to campus performances, the Jazz Ensemble performs at various events in and around San Antonio.

Performance Repertoire

The Handbell Choir is a group of 12-16 students who perform for services in the Parker Chapel, present at least 3 public concerts per year, and are a highlight of Trinity's Annual Christmas Concert. Placement in the handbell choir is open to all students by audition.
