TRINITY UNIVERSITY Department of Philosophy
|
Each year the Philosophy Department will present its Hemlock Award for Best Essay to recognize outstanding philosophical achievement. The Hemlock Award was initiated in honor of our former colleague, John Murphy.
Department members will submit some student essays received in classes. But the contest is open to any Trinity student who wishes to submit a philosophical essay. To be considered, the Department must receive your essay by January 10. The award will be presented at the Honors Awards Convocation held during Spring Family Weekend.
The winner of the 2008 Hemlock Award is Casey Strickland, author of "Improvisation".
The 2007 winner was Austin Johnston
The 2006 winner was Adam Masters.
The 2005 winner was Jonathan Frost.
