For those of you who have not heard, Ernest Delgado - Physical Plant painter was killed in a car accident early this morning on the North side of town. Funeral arrangements and other information will be released by the Office of Public Relations once plans are confirmed. Ernest joined the staff of Trinity University in 1998, his son was killed a few years ago and leaves behind 4 children and 5 grandchildren with one on the way.

Ernest H. Delgado born on January 3, 1957 entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2006 at the age of 49. He is preceded in death by his son, Christopher Leija and his father, Ramiro Delgado. He is survived by his loving mother, Lilia H. Delgado, his beloved children, Michelle (Mario) Leija, Nicholaus Leija, Cynthia Delgado, Rebecca (Andrew) Delgado and Dahlia (Mario) Vera, Sarah Rodriguez; siblings, Ramiro (Diana) Delgado Jr., Daniel Delgado, Richard Delgado, Armando Delgado, Lucila (William) De Salme, Leonor (Patrick) Hodges, Maria de la Luz (Rupert) Pelayo, and Joseph (Marsha) Delgado; 8 grandchildren: Emilio "Gordo", Isaiah, Victoria, Isis, Michael, Lauren, Mario, as well as one grandchild expected in April; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who will cherish his memory. Ernie "Papa" "Cadillac" Delgado was a devoted father and grandfather which was his greatest joy in life. He was an exceptionally caring man who gave of himself without hesitation. He was employed at Trinity University and worked alongside his long-time friend and supervisor, E.J. Johnson. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service commencing at 7:00 P.M. in the Hillcrest Chapel. Private service to follow.
