Women's and Gender Studies

Program Description

Additional Information

The Women's and Gender Studies minor is an interdisciplinary program that both fosters the discovery and re-examination of knowledge about gender, human sexuality, and women's experience and demonstrates the application of gender analysis in the scholarship of numerous academic disciplines. In recent years, and in virtually all academic disciplines, an increasingly influential body of scholarship has emerged that not only compensates for past exclusions and distortions but also introduces and explores new methods for research and teaching. Women's and Gender Studies has contributed to and challenged established intellectual frameworks such as historical periods, definitions of culture, orthodox doctrines of political theory and religion, conceptions of biological determinism, and traditional canons in literature and fine arts. The Women's and Gender Studies program at Trinity provides an opportunity for students and faculty to explore these exciting new materials and methods.
