What has Trinity meant to
you?
For the last four years,
Trinity has been my life. The campus has
been my home, and the people of Trinity have become my surrogate family. During
my time at Trinity, I have learned about magazine design, Holocaust literature,
and Latino art. Trinity's common
curriculum has given me a strong base of knowledge I can carry with me for the
rest of my life. However, the
relationships I have developed at Trinity are equally important. I hope to
maintain the friendships I developed at Trinity for the rest of my life – peer friendships
and relationships with the faculty and staff members who helped me along the
way.
What will be some of your best memories of Trinity?
My four years at Trinity were
among the best years of my life. I know
that when I think back on my time at Trinity, a smile will cross my face.
How has your education
prepared you for life after college?
For me, life after college
currently means law school. I'll begin
law school at the
University
of
Kansas in August. I have no doubt that my courses and
experiences at Trinity have prepared me for success in law school. Although the subject matter will differ
significantly from the topics I covered as part of my communication major, the
skills I developed at Trinity are necessary for law school.
Favorite professors?
Jennifer Henderson (Communication)
teaches with a great deal of energy. Her
classroom is always alive with excitement. While most 8:30 a.m. classes challenge students to stay awake, I never
even dreamed of dozing off in Dr. Henderson's Mass Media course. Her excitement for the material transfers to
the students. While taking her Media Law
course, I often found myself reading ahead in the text or, even, reading extra
sections that our syllabus didn't cover. Her instruction doesn't end in the
classroom. During my law school search
this past school year, she always made herself available and was willing to
spend time with me debating the pros and cons of various schools.
Arturo Madrid (Modern
Languages and Literatures) exposed me to U.S. Latino culture – a group with
which I had limited exposure before college. He opened my eyes to different lifestyles and different ways of thinking
about things. In learning about a new
culture, I learned a great deal about myself at the same time. After my courses with Dr.
Madrid were finished, he and I remained
close. I love that Dr. Madrid refers to
his students as friends; it's not only a term that he uses but a behavior that
he demonstrates regularly. Anytime I
needed guidance on anything from courses to take to life after Trinity, Dr.
Madrid's door was open
and he was willing to offer advice.
Any life changing
experiences?
My experience at Trinity as a
whole has been life changing. Trinity
will continue to be a part of who I am for the rest of my life. I look forward to becoming involved in local
alumni chapters and making new Trinity friends. Trinity has helped me become
the woman I am today and has given me all the tools I need to succeed in
life. |
