LINE OF MARCH
The student marshals will place you in correct marching order when you begin to line up. They will show you the route to follow to the inside of the Chapel. Please watch the student marshals and follow their directions explicitly. Do not try to keep in step with the music or with one another; walk evenly and slowly using short steps and keep together in pairs, keeping the distance between you and the degree candidate in front of you constant. Please walk at a sufficient pace to prevent long gaps from forming or jams from occurring in the line.
GENERAL COMMENT
The commencement ceremony is a traditional, formal exercise and as such
should be conducted with dignity, splendor, and respect for your fellow
classmates. Please refrain from greeting friends and/or relatives during the
processional and recessional. Please leave purses and other valuables at
home or with your guests—they should not be carried in the processional or left
in the room where you assemble.
