Museum theft; artwork appraisal; Northern European and Spanish colonial art; censorship and the NEA

Distinguished professor of art history; has worked closely with exhibitions at many leading museums including National Gallery of Art, Detroit Institute of Art, Yale Art Gallery; author of several books, exhibition catalogs and papers on northern European art, Spanish Colonial art and architecture in Mexico and Latin America; specialist in painting and sculpture of Germany, France, and the Netherlands, 1300-1800; expert in censorship issues and the National Endowment for the Arts.
