Excavation of classic Chinese texts; early Chinese Civilization; modern Chinese poetry and literature

Associate professor of Chinese; the leading U.S. scholar on Chinese excavated texts: works written on bamboo or silk found in ancient tombs; these texts include early versions of The Art of War by Sun Tzu and The Book of Changes (also known as the I Ching); travels to China every summer for research on excavated texts; in addition, he also teaches courses on modern Chinese poetry and literature.
