Norma Carmack

January 3, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of retired Trinity employee Norma Carmack.

Mrs. Carmack graduated from West Virginia University and later earned a master’s in library science from Our Lady of the Lake University. She served in various positions at Trinity’s Coates Library for 25 years, retiring in 1997 as government documents librarian.

Dedicated to her field, Mrs. Carmack was an active member of the Friends of the San Antonio Public Library and served as president of the Oakwell Branch for several years. She was named Best Friend of the Oakwell Branch in 2006. Additionally, she was a member of the San Antonio Phi Beta Kappa Association and the Texas Philatelic Association. In 2006, she was honored by the West Virginia University Foundation as a major contributor to the University Library.

She is survived by her husband, Ted Carmack, and a son.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 5, at Sunset Funeral Home, followed by a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Friends of the San Antonio Public Library, Tobin Branch at Oakwell.
