Trinity Music Department to Present September Events
SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University music department will present the following events in September. The events are free and open to the public:
Sept. 5 – Faculty recital by Carolyn True, piano. Professor True will perform the music of Ravel, Beethoven, and Bartok. Her program will also include music from composers connected to the University of Michigan including Bolcom, Albright, Kramer, Bassett, and Wise Pann. The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 12 – Faculty voice recital by Linda McNeil, soprano, and Carolyn True, piano. Associate Professor McNeil, accompanied by Professor True will celebrate the music of women composers. The recital will include works by Larsen, Deimer, Rahn, and Austin. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 15 – Joint conference by the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) and College Music Society (CMS) featuring public performances. Various performers will play the music of composers from both SCI and CMS. The concerts are scheduled for 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 8 p.m. All performances will be in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 19 – Faculty recital by Jan Tracy, tuba.
Sept. 28 – Concert by Stieren Arts guest Roger Admiral, pianist. Professor Admiral will perform in recital as part of Trinity’s Stieren Arts Enrichment Series. The event will begin at 4 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 28 – Lecture by Stieren Arts guest Jean-Marie Londeix. Professor Londeix, one of the world’s premiere saxophone players and teachers, will give a presentation titled “The Saxophone in the Various Musical Streams.” The event, in French, will be translated by fellow musician William Street. The event will begin at 8 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 29 – Lecture by Stieren Arts guest Jean-Marie Londeix. Professor Londeix, one of the world’s premiere saxophone players, will give a second presentation, in French, as part of the Stieren Arts Enrichment Series. His presentation will be translated by Stieren guest and saxophonist William Street. The lecture will begin at 2 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 29 – Saxophone master class taught by Stieren Arts guest Jean-Marie Londeix. Professor Londeix, recognized as the foremost teacher of the saxophone in the world, will offer a master class for the musical instrument. The class will be in French with translation by saxophone musician William Street. The master class will begin at 4 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
Sept. 29 – Concert by Stieren Arts guests Roger Admiral, piano, and William Street, saxophone. Musicians Roger Admiral and William Street will perform a program of music for the saxophone as part of Trinity’s Stieren Arts Enrichment Series. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.
