Trinity University Selects New Alumni Relations Director
As alumni director, Cooper will develop operating plans and programs, events, and communication with alumni, as well as provide leadership for Alumni Weekend, alumni awards ceremonies, the National Alumni Board, and alumni chapter development.
“Mary Kay’s professional orientation and understanding of the role that alumni play fits in perfectly with what we want to do in Alumni Relations,” said Marc Raney, vice president for university advancement. “It was her ability to articulate the importance of the role of alumni in quality institutions like Trinity that most impressed us, along with her experience and energy for the job.”
Cooper earned a doctoral degree in administration and leadership from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a master of arts degree in theology from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, W. Va., and a bachelor of arts degree from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. She also has studied at the Catholic Institute for Holocaust Studies in Jerusalem.
Her dissertation topic was “The Achieving Styles of Female Presidents of Large State Universities: A Qualitative Cross Case Analysis.” Cooper also presented research to the National Association of Graduate Admission Professionals on “Utilizing Alumni in Graduate Student Recruitment and Retention.”
Cooper has held positions as director of admissions and adult student services and director of graduate and adult studies at Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, where she developed and implemented student recruitment and marketing plans.
She is a published author and was one of 25 women selected as a Pennsylvania American Council on Education (PACE) Network Forum participant, “Women Leaders of the 21st Century: Pathways to the Presidency.”
Trinity University, founded in 1869, is one of the nation’s top private undergraduate institutions. Noted for its superior academic quality, outstanding faculty, and exceptional academic and residential resources, Trinity is committed to the intellectual, civic, and professional preparation of its students.
