Trinity University to Offer Transfer Grants to Outstanding ACCD Students

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University is offering special academic grants to qualified students from the Alamo Community College District interested in transferring to Trinity to continue their college education.

Beginning with the fall 2007 semester, the University will sponsor special transfer academic grants for up to two incoming transfer students from the Alamo Community College District. “The ACCD academic grant will be valued at half tuition and is comparable to some of Trinity’s most competitive scholarship awards for first year students,” Chris Ellertson, dean of Trinity’s Admissions and Financial Aid said in announcing the grant initiative. Tuition to Trinity University for the current academic year is $23,136.

Interested students from San Antonio College, St. Phillip’s College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, and Northeast Lakeview College should first apply for admission to Trinity University by filling out the transfer application. After being admitted to the University, applicants can then apply to the ACCD transfer academic grant program by submitting an additional essay and going through an interview process. Academic grants will be renewed for four full-time academic semesters and according to Standards of Academic Progress. Deadline for applications is March 1, 2007.

The ACCD Transfer Academic Grant is evidence of Trinity’s support for the area community colleges. “We know that ACCD enrolls competitive students from diverse backgrounds.  This program will enable them to build on the strong preparation they receive there. By enrolling at Trinity, they will continue to get personal attention from faculty, and in addition, will have access to the University’s excellent resources and opportunities,” said Ellertson.
