Japanese Professor to Speak on Helping Students Acclimate to New Culture When Studying Abroad
SAN ANTONIO – Professor Akito Miyamoto of Japan’s Kobe Shoin Women’s University will share his experiences helping international students bridge the cultural gap when studying in Japan. His presentation, “Language & Culture in Japan/American Exchange Programs,” will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Northrup Hall room 040. The event is free and open to the public.
During his presentation, Akito will speak on how Kobe Shoin Women’s University has come to sponsor international programs. He will also focus on the university’s program for helping students with language or cultural differences as well as give a unique perspective on how host countries prepare for American study abroad students.
Akito is currently the English as a Foreign Language instructor at the Kobe Shoin Women’s University.
