Trinity University to Offer Lecture on Bisexuality 101
SAN ANTONIO – Heather Aidala, a psychologist at the Counseling Center of Texas State University, will speak about the existence and challenges of bisexual people at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Coates University Center Fiesta Room. Admission is free and open to the public.
In her presentation titled “Becoming Visible: Bisexuality 101,” Dr. Aidala will talk about the daily challenges bisexuals face in terms of public visibility, understanding, and acceptance. Their biggest challenge is being viewed skeptically by gays and lesbians, some of whom think bisexuals deny their homosexuality and by heterosexuals who may think they are unable to commit to a single person in a relationship. Male bisexuality and female bisexuality will also be discussed in which male bisexuality is almost nonexistent in the public media while female bisexuality has been considered as a fad or a source of eroticism for heterosexual males.
This event is the fifth in an annual series of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender lectures supported by Trinity’s Student Affairs division.
For more information about this presentation, contact Richard Reams at 210-999-7411 or by e-mail at rreams@trinity.edu.
