Trinity Music Department to Present March Events

 

SAN ANTONIO – The Trinity University music department will present the following events in March.  Except for the SOLI Chamber Ensemble Concert, the events are free:

 

March 11 – Faculty voice recital by Chia-Wei Lee, baritone. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.

 

March 13 – Trinity Symphony Orchestra Concert.  The Trinity Symphony Orchestra concert will be multimedia event featuring film music by American composers.  Probably the best-known American composer is Aaron Copland and he will be represented by his "Music for Movies," a collection of five movements drawn from various films he scored in the 1940s.  The Orchestra will also perform a suite of music from the film To Kill a Mockingbird by Elmer Bernstein.  The finale will be a screening of the 1936 documentary The Plow that Broke the Plains with music by Virgil Thompson. The music score will be performed live by the orchestra and a student will recreate the original film narration. (Note: this is a new date for the event.)

 

March 18 – SOLI Chamber Ensemble Concert.  The chamber ensemble will perform a program titled “Synergy: Collaborative Encounters.”  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ruth Taylor Recital Hall.  Admission is $15.
