Noted Architect of Northup Hall First Speaker
of Trinity's 2004-05 Stieren Arts Enrichment Series

SAN ANTONIO - A nationally renowned architect, Robert A.M. Stern, the architect of Trinity University's Northrup Hall, will be the first speaker of the University's 2004-05 Stieren Arts Enrichment Series.  Mr. Stern will speak on the development and design of Northrup Hall at 3 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 16 in the Stieren Theater. Following his presentation, Mr. Stern will attend the formal dedication of the new building at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Stern is the founder and senior partner in the firm of Robert A.M. Stern Architects of New York as well as a teacher and writer.  He is a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and received the AIA New York Chapter's Medal of Honor Award in 1984 and the Chapter's President's Award in 2001.  In addition, he is the dean of the Yale School of Architecture.

Mr. Stern has co-written a series of books on the development of New York City's architecture and urbanism. One of the books, New York 1930, was nominated for a National Book Award.  Mr. Stern was also the host of Pride of Place: Building the American Dream, an eight part, eight hour series which aired on PBS.

The Stieren Arts Enrichment Series hosts an array of leaders in the areas of art, music, drama, literature, communication, art history, and aesthetics to Trinity.  The series is made possible through an endowment created by Jane and the late Arthur Stieren of San Antonio.
