Trinity University Selects Firm to Help Search for Next President

SAN ANTONIO – The executive search firm of Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates has been chosen to work with Trinity University’s search committee to identify candidates to become the 18th president of the university.

The Trinity search will be led by Shelly Weiss Storbeck, managing partner of the firm that has offices in Los Angeles and the Philadelphia area. It is a minority and female owned business that specializes in providing executive recruitment services to colleges, universities, independent schools, and not-for-profit organizations.

In January, Trinity President John R. Brazil announced his retirement, effective in January 2010. A search committee was named and is chaired by John R. “J.R.” Hurd, a member of Trinity’s Board of Trustees and a San Antonio business owner.

George C. Hixon, chairman of the Board of Trustees, said when he announced the presidential search committee that the group is “committed to selecting a president who will build firmly upon the achievements of the Brazil presidency and bring further recognition and honor to this extraordinary University.”

Ms. Storbeck has conducted more than 400 searches for public and private universities, colleges, and schools, and not-for-profit associations and organizations. She has previously held similar management positions in the education practice of two other well-known search firms, A.T. Kearney Inc., and Korn/Ferry International.

She writes, speaks, and consults on issues relating to higher education across the United States and has served as chair of the American Council on Education Executive Search Roundtable. Before entering the search industry, she was an assistant to the president for Educational Affairs at Haverford College, where she gained experience in senior administrative searches and chaired Haverford’s Middle States Accreditation process.

Ms. Storbeck holds a master’s degree in English from Bryn Mawr College and a bachelor’s in English and religion from Dickinson College, where she also earned Phi Beta Kappa distinction.

Trinity University, founded in 1869, is one of the nation’s top private undergraduate institutions. Noted for its superior academic quality, outstanding faculty, and exceptional academic and residential resources, Trinity is committed to the intellectual, civic, and professional preparation of its students.
