Trinity University Names New Director of Campus Security
SAN ANTONIO – Paul J. Chapa, a 19-year veteran of university policing, has been named director of Campus Security at Trinity University. He has served in leadership positions with campus police operations at Texas State University and St. Mary’s University, among other law enforcement duties.
Mr. Chapa, a certified peace officer who also has received instruction at the FBI National Academy, said he strives to create a positive and proactive work environment and will bring a commitment to safety to the Trinity campus. “Our department goal is to create a safe community in which to work, learn, and live,” he said.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in human services with specialization in criminal justice from Wayland Baptist University and is a candidate for a master’s degree in organizational leadership in December from Texas State University.
Before coming to Trinity, he was assistant director and captain of operations at Texas State in San Marcos, Texas. Mr. Chapa also was a police sergeant with the St. Mary’s Police Department.
