Trinity University is Among ‘The Best 371Colleges’ Ranked by

The Princeton Review for 2010

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University is listed as one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education, according the 2010 edition of The Best 371Colleges, published by The Princeton Review. Trinity also was ranked in separate categories for “Dorms Like Palaces” and “Best College Theater.”

The guide’s two-page profiles of the schools feature student comments. Trinity students reported that the University is “known for its good science and pre-med programs” but noted that it also has “decent arts programs” along with stellar programs in education and business administration. In addition, one student said, “Not many other schools this size have their own radio and television stations with a full communications department.”  Another student said Trinity has “a diverse population, small classes, and a very active social scene; in other words – there’s something for everyone” along with the ability to get to know professors and move into leadership positions of student organizations.

In a “Survey Says. . .” sidebar on Trinity, The Princeton Review lists topics that Trinity students were in most agreement about when answering survey questions.  The list includes “great library,” “school is well run,” “great off campus food,” “dorms are like palaces,” and “campus feels safe.”

The Princeton Review, a New York-based education services company, profiles only about 15 percent of the four-year colleges in America and two Canadian colleges for its annual guide.

Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s vice president of publishing, said schools were chosen primarily for their outstanding academics, but other factors used for evaluation were institutional data, student feedback, personal visits by Review staff, and opinions of college counselors. “We also work to keep a wide representation of colleges in the book by region, size, selectivity, and character,” he said.

The Princeton Review is known for its test-prep courses and is not affiliated with Princeton University. Schools do not pay fees to be included in the Review.

Trinity University, founded in 1869, is one of the nation’s top private undergraduate institutions. Noted for its superior academic quality, outstanding faculty, and exceptional academic and residential resources, Trinity is committed to the intellectual, civic, and professional preparation of its students.
