For 18^th Straight Year, Trinity University Ranked No. 1 in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges”

SAN ANTONIO – For the 18^th consecutive year U.S. News & World Report has listed Trinity University with a No. 1 ranking in their “America’s Best Colleges” guide for 2010.  Trinity was awarded the No. 1 spot in the category of institutions that offer a full range of undergraduate programs as well as select master’s programs in the Western part of the United States.

Trinity also received a No. 1 ranking in the publication’s best value category, “Great Schools, Great Prices.”  In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranked the University’s engineering science program No. 19 among the nation’s best schools whose highest degree is a bachelor’s or master’s.

U.S. News & World Report added a new section to the 2010 college guide listing schools with a strong commitment to teaching.  In this category of only 80 schools, the college guide has Trinity tied in second place with Abilene Christian University and Santa Clara University among institutions that offer master’s programs in the Western part of the United States.  

U.S. News & World Report queried more than 1,400 colleges and universities for its annual publication. In addition, U.S. News & World Report obtained information from other sources such as the American Association of University Professors and the Council for Aid to Education.

The national magazine based its rankings on several factors, including academic reputation (assessed by academic peers: presidents, provosts, and deans of admission), graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student/faculty ratio, student selectivity, financial resources, and alumni giving.

U.S. News & World Report’s annual edition of “America’s Best Colleges” is one of many publications and guidebooks that have recognized Trinity and other top institutions. Recently Trinity was recognized as a Best Buy in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2010 and Trinity was listed as one of the country’s best institutions for undergraduate education in the 2010 edition of The Best 371Colleges published by The Princeton Review.
