Economist Joseph Stiglitz to Be the First Guest of Trinity University’s 2009-2010 Policy Maker Breakfast Series

 

SAN ANTONIO – Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize winning economist, will be the first speaker of Trinity University’s 2009-2010 Policy Maker Breakfast Series. Mr. Stiglitz will present “Economic Perspectives” at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at the DoubleTree Hotel’s Tamayo Ballroom located at Loop 410 and McCullough. Tickets are $45 for each individual breakfast or $150 for the entire series. Reservations can be made by calling Trinity’s Office of Conferences and Special Programs at 210-999-7601.

 

Mr. Stiglitz is now university professor at Columbia University in New York and chair of Columbia University’s Committee on Global Thought.  He was also a member of the Council of Economic Advisors from 1993-1995 during the Clinton administration and served as CEA chairperson from 1995-1997.  He then became chief economist and senior vice president of the World Bank from 1997-2000.  In 2008, he was appointed by French president Nicolas Sarkozy to chair a commission on the measurement of economic performance and progress.  He is recognized around the world as a leading economic educator.

The Policy Maker Breakfast Series brings national and international leaders in the fields of business, finance, media, and politics to San Antonio to present their views on current and emerging issues. The series is sponsored by the Office of Conferences and Special Programs and the Stevens Academic Enrichment Fund.
