Trinity's Latino Exchange To Feature
Writers And Performers In 'Flor Y Canto' Event

ANTONIO - The Latino Exchange, a student group at Trinity University
that promotes and celebrates Latino culture, will hold a "Flor Y Canto"
event featuring three very talented, highly regarded writers and
performers. The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, in the
Chapman Gold Room. It is free and open to the public.
The evening will include performances by:

José Rubén De León, actor/playwright: Mr.
De León is currently performing in his one-man show Lorca,
which premiered at the Carver Community Cultural Center and begins
a tour at the Jump Start Theater. Mr. De León has performed internationally,
and has recorded Bengali Lullaby, a multilingual CD for children. |

Olga Samples-Davis, writer/motivational speaker/performing
artist: Ms. Samples-Davis is the award-winning author of A Time
to Be Born and Things My Momma Told Me: The Wisdom that Shapes
Our Lives. Her work has also appeared in numerous journals and
poetry collections. |

John Phillip Santos, writer/filmmaker: Mr. Santos,
who has produced numerous documentary films, is the author of Things
Left Unfinished at the Time of Creation, a finalist for the National
Book Award. He is presently completing The Farthest Home is in
an Empire of Fire. |

Canto" is a celebration of literature usually with ties to Spanish and New
