Trinity University to Host TEDx San Antonio

Sixteen local and national thought leaders to speak on “Planting New Ideas”

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity University will serve as the host site and a sponsor of San Antonio’s TEDx event on Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Jane and Arthur Stieren Theater. The inaugural TEDx  San Antonio event will bring together a diverse group of CEOs, creative thinkers, scientists, and philanthropists to explore ground-breaking ideas that will affect the future of our society.


Trinity’s Carolyn Becker, associate professor of psychology and visionary for Trinity’s healthy body image project, and Aaron Delwiche, associate professor of communication and new media specialist, are among a slate of other local and national leaders selected to speak. Topics will include virtual classroom tools, the death penalty, humans as programmers, hunger, human trafficking and inspirational work spaces.


Started in 1984, the annual TED (technology, entertainment, design) conference was designed to bring together professionals from the technology, entertainment, and design worlds. Since its beginning, the conference has broadened its scope to include science, business, the arts, and the global issues facing the world. The annual conference now brings together thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of

their lives – in 18 minutes or less. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa.”


In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TEDx-like experience with video and live speakers combining to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group setting. These events are branded TEDx, where the ‘x’ indicates the event is independently organized.


Tickets for the event are $50 per person and space is limited. Admission is by application, which is available at Applications must be received by Friday, Sept. 24 to be considered for admission.
