Nov. 5, 2010 Denim Group Principal Named Trinity’s 2010-2011 Outstanding Young Alumnus
SAN ANTONIO –
Sheridan Chambers ’97, principal of the Denim Group Ltd. in San Antonio,
will receive the Trinity University Outstanding Young Alumnus Award for
2010-2011 at a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in the Great
Hall at the Chapman Center on the Trinity campus.
Chambers is the ninth Trinity graduate to receive the prestigious
Outstanding Young Alumnus Award, which honors alumni who have graduated
in the past 15 years. The University accepts nominations of alumni who
have distinguished themselves in their profession and in service to the
community, setting a standard of excellence worthy of recognition by the
Alumni Association and the University. The recipient is selected by a
committee of the National Alumni Board.
Chambers has demonstrated expertise in starting, running, and growing
businesses for nearly a decade. With a strong history of bringing
emerging technologies to market, Chambers provides vision and leadership
in client consultation and also in his management of operations and
finance at Denim Group. Chambers is currently on the Regional Review
Committee for the Texas Emerging Technology Fund and is a past president
of TASA (Technology Advocates of San Antonio).
Denim Group
develops secure software, helps organizations assess and mitigate risk
with existing software, and provides training on best practices in
software security. The company is a strong contributor to the larger
application security community and has been involved with the Open Web
Application Security Project since shortly after its inception.
Additionally, Denim Group was ranked in
Inc. Magazine's 5,000
Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America in 2008 and 2009.
Previous to working at Denim Group, Chambers was an officer or founder
of three companies. He was president of BrandDefense, a privately-funded
intellectual property protection company; vice president and general
manager of Rare Medium, San Antonio, responsible for managing seven
offices of the Java development effort; and founder of Atension Inc., a
professional services firm that was acquired by Rare Medium.
Chambers has been recognized as North Chamber Entrepreneur of the Year,
one of the San Antonio Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40, SATAI
Technology Superstar, and as one of
Texas Monthly’s “30
Multimedia Whizzes Under 30.” |
