| Trinity University to Hold 131st Commencement |
| April 19, 2000 - Trinity University will hold is 131st commencement for undergraduate and graduate students receiving their degrees on Saturday, May 13, 2000. The undergraduate commencement begins at 10:30 a.m. in Laurie Auditorium. 435 students are expected to receive their degrees. The graduate commencement begins at 9 a.m. in Margarite B. Parker Chapel. 93 education, health care administration, and accounting students are expected to receive their degrees.
The keynote speaker at the undergraduate ceremony will be Jim Dicke II '68. Dicke is chairman of Trinity's Board of Trustees and was named distinguished alumnus in 1991. He is president of Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen, Ohio and serves on the boards of the Dayton Power and Light Company, Dayton Art Institute, Anderson-Cook Corporation, and Eppraisals.com. Sarah Keenan Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri will speak on behalf of the class of 2000. Taylor is co-chair of the Greek Council and a member of Mortar Board and Blue Key honor societies and the sorority Sigma Theta Tau. She will graduate with honors with two bachelors' degrees: a B.S. in business administration with a finance concentration and a B.A. in geosciences. Richard A. Middleton '69, superintendent of North East Independent School District, will speak at the graduate ceremony. Middleton has been superintendent of one of San Antonio's largest school districts for nine years. Trinity University, founded in 1869, is a highly selective, professionally-oriented liberal arts and sciences institution. This residential, primarily undergraduate university is noted for its superb facilities and undergraduate research opportunities. Through its academic and co-curricular programs, Trinity seeks to develop leaders with high moral and ethical standards.
