| Trinity University to Honor Outstanding Young Alumna |
| Nov. 22, 2002 – A 1991 graduate of Trinity University will be honored as the Outstanding Young Alumna during a luncheon on Friday, Dec. 6. Angie Bryan ’91 is a public affairs officer in the American Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. On her way to earning a B.A. in international studies and political science, Ms. Bryan served as director of the Trinity University Voluntary Action Center. She passed the Foreign Service exam while enrolled at Trinity. Her first assignment was at the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait, then it was on to Damascus, Syria; Algiers, Algeria; and finally, back to the State Department in Washington, D.C. Although living in Pakistan, her assignment is to observe events in Afghanistan. The award will be presented to Ms. Bryan at a noon luncheon on Dec. 6 in the Great Hall on Trinity’s campus. The luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are $15 per person. Ms. Bryan was unable to attend Trinity’s Alumni Weekend festivities earlier in November when Belle S. Wheelan ’72 received the Distinguished Alumnus Award and John H. Moore III ’60 was honored with a new distinction, the Spirit of Trinity Award. Dr. Wheelan – who was a university administrator for many years, including several positions at San Antonio College and Alamo Community College – is Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Dr. Moore joined the Trinity faculty in 1968 as the Norine R. Murchison Distinguished Professor of Education and served as department chairman from 1973 until his retirement in 2001. He is credited with changing the face of teacher preparation in San Antonio and for many educational innovations that have been implemented throughout the United States. For more information or to make reservations for the luncheon, contact the Trinity alumni office at (210) 999-8404. |
