Trinity University Professor Receives Promotion |
| Sept. 23, 2002 – Farzan Aminian has been promoted to full professor in the department of engineering science at Trinity University. Professor Aminian came to Trinity as an assistant engineering science professor in 1989. He received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma, graduating at the rank of No. 1 in his class. He was awarded his master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering from The Ohio State University. Professor Aminian, who is a registered professional engineer in Texas, studies Monte Carlo simulations of electronic transport, computer-aided design, and analysis of electronic circuits. At Trinity, he has chaired the University’s Information Technology Committee and supervised maintenance of hardware and software for the Unix network in the engineering science department. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has won eight distinguished service awards from that organization. In addition, he has reviewed journals published by the IEEE on transactions of neural networks and of circuits and systems and has reviewed books for two publishers of science texts. In the 1990s, Professor Aminian has received a $299,661 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the impact of electrons on molecules and a $175,370 grant from the Altera Corp. for equipment to develop a digital design lab.
