Jan. 7, 2003An award-winning producer of children’s television programming has donated his collection of original show tapes, scripts, and related correspondence to the Coates Library of Trinity University.  John Binkley, president of B&G Communications and a producer of children’s programming for 25 years, presented his collection to the library on Dec. 16.  The gift will be catalogued by Trinity librarians and will eventually be available for students and scholars conducting research into children’s television.

“John Binkley's collection provides valuable material for research not only in  communication, sociology, and psychology but also gives the students insight into the creative process,” said Suzanne Williams-Rautiola, associate professor of communication and an expert on children’s programming. “The collection includes the final tapes of many well-known children's shows as well as scripts and planning materials.”

The collection includes show tapes from “Fifteen,” which aired on Nickelodeon and on the Disney Channel; “No Adults Allowed,” which was broadcast in the United Kingdom, Turkey, and in countries in Africa and Asia; and “Secret’s Out,” which aired in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia.
