Euless Student Wins Service Award

March 23, 2000  - Heather Conger of Euless, Texas will be presented with the Trinity University Alumni Association award for service to the community.  The award is given annually to the student who demonstrates outstanding service contributions to the San Antonio community over an extended period of time.  Conger will receive her award and a $250 cash prize during the University's awards convocation on Saturday, April 1.

Conger is director of the Trinity University Voluntary Action Center.  Her long list of work in the community includes service to the Battered Women's Shelter, Best Buddies, San Antonio Zoo Boo, Habitat for Humanity, mentoring at Mark Twain Middle School, participation in Alternative Spring Break, San Antonio Red Cross flood relief, and the United Way Days of Caring project.

Conger is a senior international students major (East Asian concentration) with a minor in history.  She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. George Conger and attended Cate School.

Members of Trinity's student body, faculty and staff nominate students for the service award.  A panel of the National Alumni Board interviews top candidates for final selection.
