Yale University Psychologist to Discuss Memory and Aging |
|
Professor Johnson studies the topics of age-related memory dysfunction, the notorious unreliability of eyewitness testimony, and false reports of recovered memories that were previously repressed. Researchers in her Yale lab recently used neuroimaging to identify brain regions associated with monitoring the origins of information. Her lecture will describe theoretical ideas and empirical findings that help to understand both accurate and distorted memory. Before joining the Yale faculty in 2000, Professor Johnson was a professor at Princeton University for 15 years. She has published more than 100 articles and book chapters and served on the boards of numerous journals. Recognition of her work includes a Guggenheim Fellowship, the James McKeen Cattell Sabbatical Award, and a Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. Research funding for her laboratory has included grants from the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute on Aging. Doors to Laurie Auditorium will open at 6:30 p.m. on the day of the lecture. The lecture series is made possible by an endowment gift from Mr. and Mrs. Walter F. Brown of San Antonio. Mr. Brown is a Trinity University Trustee. For more information, contact Trinity’s department of academic affairs at (210) 999-8201. |
