EDUCATOR REVEALS HOW TO UNLEASH KIDS’ POTENTIAL |
| Oct. 11, 2001 -- A Trinity education professor will
offer strategies to raise happy and successful children during a Food
For Thought luncheon lecture. Karen Waldron, professor of education and
specialist in child and adolescent development, will present "Unleashing
Kids’ Potential: What Parents, Grandparents, and Teachers Need to Know,"
at noon on Wed., Nov. 7, in the Coates Center Fiesta Room. Tickets for
the luncheon are $14, and reservations should be made three days prior
to the event by calling the Alumni Relations Office at (210) 999-8404.
Professor Waldron specializes in training teachers to work with at risk children. She has given advice on both radio and television on ways families can raise healthy and happy kids. During her presentation, professor Waldron will touch on issues such as how to move children away from loneliness and depression, how grandparents can keep involved in the lives of their grandchildren even if they live out-of-town, and how to help your children when you are a single parent. She will also share stories of families who have helped their children face almost insurmountable challenges. “Unleashing Kid’s Potential: What Parents, Grandparents, and their Teachers Need to Know” is also the title of a new book Professor Waldron has written. Copies of the book will be available to purchase during the luncheon. The Food For Thought luncheon lecture series is sponsored by the San Antonio chapter of the Trinity University Alumni Association.
