Trinity Students Awarded Fulbright Honors |
| May 9, 2003 – Three Trinity University students have won honors from the Fulbright U.S. student program sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Anne Hilton of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Cara Leanne Wood of Jenks, Okla., have been awarded teaching/research grants from the Fulbright program. Amy Jenkins of Arlington, Texas, has won alternate status for a full research grant. The Fulbright U.S. student program offers opportunities for recent graduates, post-graduate candidates, and developing professionals and artists to conduct career-launching study and research abroad. Ms. Hilton, a double major in chemistry and German, has accepted the Fulbright grant to study in South Korea. Ms. Wood, a music major who won a grant to study in Germany, has declined the Fulbright grant in order to enter graduate school. Ms. Jenkins, a double major in political sciences and Chinese, has applied to study music in Taiwan. In the past, most Trinity students who were awarded alternate status by the Fulbright program have ultimately received full grantee status. Trinity University is a nationally recognized liberal arts and sciences institution noted for its exceptional faculty and commitment to the comprehensive preparation of its talented student body. It is a learning community that has charted its course with a steadfast commitment to excellence since it was founded in 1869. |
