Trinity Graduate Named Public Relations Intern of the Year

April 11, 2000  - Sylvia Mugica, a fall 1999 graduate of Trinity University, has been named Intern of the Year by the Texas Public Relations Association (TPRA).  The award was presented recently at the annual statewide meeting of the association. Since 1997, the TPRA has sponsored eight summer internships for students.  The internships take place in public relations agencies, corporations, and non-profit organizations which are members of the association.  The interns receive $1,000 for their participation in the program.  At the end of the internship, the students submit a portfolio of their work that outlines their goals and expectations about public relations in general and their internship in particular.  The portfolio also includes samples of work produced during the internship along with examples of the practical application of public relations practices. Mugica completed her internship with Sea World of Texas.  As intern of the year, she received a check for $1500.
