| TRINITY SPEECH AND DRAMA DEPARTMENT TO STAGE SONDHEIM'S MUSICAL INTO THE WOODS |
|
March 27, 2002 Trinity University's speech and drama department will present Into the Woods, a musical comedy by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. The musical follows the adventures of a baker and his wife who, in their quest for a child, go on a series of misadventures with characters from classic fairy tales such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel. The play will be presented in the Stieren Theater on April 12-14 and 17-20; performances begin at 8 p.m. except for the performance on Sunday, April 14, which is at 2:30 p.m. The plot revolves around the baker and his wife, who have been cursed with childlessness by a witch. They must perform a range of missions involving the characters in the other fairy tales to break the spell. The play remains an audience favorite. For more information or to order tickets, call the Stieren Theater box office at (210) 999-8515. |
