Israeli Economist to Present Lecture at Trinity University |
|
Mr. Bainerman has spent more than 20 years working as a journalist and writer on Israeli and Middle East business and economic affairs. Among the topics he has researched are the Israeli economy, the development of Israel’s technology-based industries, changes in the social and economic fabric of Israeli and Palestinian societies, Palestinian business affairs, the effect of United States aid on Middle East economics, and how U.S. foreign policies in the Middle East have stifled economic prosperity for the region. He has written for The Israel Economist, and his research has appeared in a number of Israeli and Middle East academic journals. In addition, he has served as economics editor of The Jerusalem Post, and his opinion columns have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, New York Newsday, The Baltimore Sun, The Toronto Globe and Mail, The Journal of Commerce, The Palm Beach Post, and The Orlando Sentinel. In 1992, he established Inside Israel, a newsletter on Israeli political and diplomatic affairs, and followed it with The Israel Technology Letter in 1996 to report on investment opportunities in Israel’s high-tech sector and joint ventures between Israeli and Palestinian companies. In July 2001, Mr. Bainerman began publishing a series of independent research reports on various aspects of Israel’s technology industries and the reaction of Wall Street to American companies –especially those in the high-tech sector – going public. This month, he plans to publish a report titled: “How Jews and Arabs Can Make Money Together Instead of Killing Each Other.” His appearance at Trinity is made possible by the offices of academic affairs and international programs, by the departments of communication, economics, religion, sociology and anthropology, and political science, and by Mary Ann Tétreault, Cox Distinguished Professor of international affairs. |
