Trinity Names Judd Distinguished Alumnus for 1999

October 8, 1999  - Raymond Judd '56 has been named the 1999 Trinity University Distinguished Alumnus in recognition of his dedication to his alma mater and his outstanding accomplishments.  Judd, chaplain emeritus at Trinity, was selected by Trinity's National Alumni Association and will be honored at a dinner on October 22 during the University's Alumni Weekend.

Judd, a native of Sherman, Texas, enrolled at Trinity University in 1952 with hopes of going into the ministry.  After graduating, he went to Princeton Theological Seminary and received his master's in divinity.  He returned to Trinity in 1967 to become chaplain of the new Margarite B. Parker Chapel and retired in May after 32 years of service.  During his tenure he ministered to and mentored hundreds of students and was a great source of support for faculty and staff.  Nearly 2,000 alumni have asked him to officiate at their weddings.

Judd has been included in editions of Who's Who in Religion and has served on the boards of Religious Communities for the Arts in New York City and American Summer Institutes in Princeton, New Jersey.  He is a fellow of the Salzburg Seminar in Austria, and the College of the Ozarks has conferred upon him a honorary doctorate of divinity.
