Trinity Theater Presents Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure |
|
Oct. 10, 2003 — Measure for Measure, William Shakespeare’s comic tragedy about the relationship between sex, power, and the law, will be performed by Trinity University’s department of speech and drama Nov. 14-22 in the Jane and Arthur Stieren Theater. The play will be presented on Nov. 14-15 at 8 p.m., Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m., Nov. 19 at 7 p.m., and Nov. 20-22 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for regular admission, $5 for senior citizens, and $4 for students. Reservations can be made by calling the Stieren Theater box office at (210) 999-8515. Written in 1605, the play confronts crucial issues of the time: the power of female sexuality, and who has the right to legislate morality. It is done through touching and absurd characters caught in a devastating, and at times, fantastically ridiculous plot. The play is as topical today as it was then. For more information, or to order tickets, contact the Stieren Theater Box Office at (210) 999-8515. |
