Trinity Yearbook Wins Best of
Show in National Convention

November 22, 1999  - The 1999 Mirage, Trinity University's student yearbook, received second place in the Associated Collegiate Press' Best of Show contest at the College Media Advisers / National Scholastic Press Association 1999 national convention.  The Mirage competed against yearbooks from across the country for this coveted award, which was judged on the basis of general excellence, with emphasis on design, coverage, reporting and leadership as expressed through content.

The 1999 Mirage was 240 pages with a unique design in which the book opened sideways to promote the feeling of a coffee table picture book.  The staff of 25 Trinity students used dynamic black-and-white photography meant to capture the essence of student life at Trinity.

"The students put huge amounts of time and energy into creating Trinity's yearbook," says Stacy Christianson, coordinator of student activities for student-edited publications.  "I'm thrilled to see them rewarded for their efforts."  Beaumont resident Jay Farris '99 and Salt Lake City resident Susan Hibdon '00 served as co-editors.

Trinity University, founded in 1869, is a highly selective, professionally-oriented liberal arts and sciences institution.  This residential, primarily undergraduate coeducational university is noted for its superb facilities and undergraduate research opportunities.  Through its academic and co-curricular programs, Trinity seeks to develop leaders with high moral and ethical standards.  It is a learning community that has charted its course with a steadfast commitment to excellence for more than 130 years.
