| Trinity University Names Three Trustees |

SAN ANTONIO – Three alumni of Trinity University have been elected to the Trinity University Board of Trustees. They are Barbara Pritzlaff Pierce of Nashville, L. Herbert “Herb” Stumberg Jr. of San Antonio, and John Thornton of Austin.
Mrs. Pierce is married to Dr. V. Douglas Pierce Jr., ’78, also a Trinity graduate who is an orthopedic surgeon in Nashville. They are the parents of two sons. Mr. Stumberg, ’81, is president of Air Measurement
Technologies, a San Antonio firm that designs and develops digital pressure
and temperature computers for firefighters. Previously, he was a partner
with Ryckman & Associates, which oversees real estate partnerships,
and co-founder or Orca Industries, which developed underwater decompression computers for scuba divers. Mr. Stumberg is on the investment committee of The Trust Company N.A. and on the board of the Tower Life Insurance Co. He has led capital campaigns for First Presbyterian Church and the Christian Assistance Ministry of San Antonio, and he has served on the boards of Game Conservation International, Salvation Army, and the Hill Country Youth Ranch. At Trinity, Mr. Stumberg earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He later earned an MBA at the University of Texas at Austin. He is a former member of Trinity’s National Alumni Board. Mr. Stumberg is married to the former Nancy Harrelson, an attorney with Matthews & Branscomb, and they are the parents of three children. His father, Louis H. Stumberg Sr., is a Trustee Emeritus of Trinity.
He earned a B.A. summa cum laude in economics from Trinity and earned an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Mr. Thornton is a founding board member of the Austin Entrepreneur’s Foundation. His wife, Julie, is a ballet teacher and community volunteer. Trinity University, founded in 1869, is a highly selective, professionally oriented liberal arts and sciences institution. This residential, primarily undergraduate coeducational university is noted for its superb facilities and undergraduate research opportunities. It is a learning community that has charted its course with a steadfast commitment to excellence for more than 130 years. |
