| Celebrated Polish Poet to Read at Trinity University Piotr Sommer, one of Poland's leading poets, will read at Trinity University on Tuesday, December 3rd, at 7 pm in the Gold Room of Chapman Graduate Center, located on the Trinity campus. Sommer has had a distinguished career as the editor of a Warsaw-based magazine of international literature and has published some twenty volumes of poetry, criticism, and translation, including translations into Polish of the work of John Berryman, Robert Lowell, Seamus Heaney, and Charles Reznikoff. Sommer's writing has been published in theNew Yorker,Threepenny Review,Ploughshares, and other prestigious literary magazines. He will read from his recent book in English,Things to Translate, as well as translations of recent work. This is a rare appearance and the Texas premier of an internationally celebrated poet who writes with unsparing lucidity and sparkling irony. Please join us for his reading, which will be followed by a reception. This special event is sponsored by the Trinity Departments and Programs of Comparative Literature, English, Modern Language and Literatures, Trinity University Press, and Academic Affairs.
